A Look Inside: My Makeup Bag

It's safe to say that I'm a notorious over-packer. Traveling back and forth to South Carolina to visit the bf has made me much more conscious of what I bring and instead of just throwing random items into my luggage, I've been making more of an effort to pack strategically and bring only what I know I will use. These are the essentials I packed in my makeup bag:

J.Crew Makeup Bag, Nars Bronzer in Laguna, Bobbi Brown Rich Caviar Eyeshadow Palette, Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer, Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Foundation in Instensity 1.0, Bobbi Brown Concealer Kit in Beige, Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Liner in Black Ink, Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Pale Pink, MAC Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul, Chloe Eau de Parfum Rollerball, Tarte Lip Surgence Lip Tint in Moody, Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment, Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment, Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes in Black, Dior Diorshow Iconic Mascara in Noir, Fresh Sugar Lip Polish

Getaway with Girlfriends

This past weekend I took a trip out to the Hamptons with my two girlfriends for a relaxing getaway. I have to say, I love girls weekends. We had the absolute best time. On Friday we spent the day in the exhaustingly hot weather at the Atlantis Marine World Aquarium in Riverhead, New York. (Checking this off my Summer Checklist!) Despite the heat, we had so much fun. We saw the sea lion show, watched the sharks, played with starfish and stingrays. I love going to the Aquarium. It's definitely one of my favorite pastimes. And after that we stopped in Ralphs for much needed water and creme ices to cool us off. For the rest of the weekend we lounged around by the pool for hours, reading magazines, swimming and listening to an awesome 90's playlist. We barbecued, baked, and indulged in way more delicious food than we probably should have. And at night we roasted smore's (I would check this off the Summer Checklist also except we did it over the stove, so I don't think this counts), watched movies and played games. It was a perfect mini vacation. I can't wait to do it again!

Summer Checklist

Although summer hasn't officially started yet, I've been out of school for a couple of weeks now. My weekdays and weekends have been so busy with work and other obligations that I haven't had a chance to really enjoy being free of homework, projects and crazy professors. So I decided it might be a good idea to make a list of things I want to do this summer, whether they be big or small. A checklist of sorts. I'm a sucker for a to-do list. These are ten things I want to do before summer ends:

1. Go to the Atlantis Aquarium on Long Island.

2. Take a much needed vacation with my boyfriend.

3. Watch a movie on the lawn in Bryant Park at the HBO Summer Film Festival

4. Roast marshmallows and make s'mores with friends.

5. Purchase new bedding. Maybe from Anthropologie!

6. Take a day trip to Charleston, South Carolina. (Pat & I always say we're going to do this when I visit and we never follow through.)

7. Host a dinner party and invite all my girl friends.

8. Get my portfolio together and apply for Fall internships.

9. Spend a day doing some tourist-y things in New York City. I really want to see a play and go to the Bodies Exhibit at the South Street Seaport.

10. Go to the beach and be outside as much as possible.

Aruba

I've been in Aruba since Saturday and every day is nicer than the last. I'm having a great time hanging out on the beach and spending time with my family. The water is the most beautiful shade of turquoise you've ever seen. Such a nice change from the murky waters in New York. I can actually see my feet! We've been coming here for about twenty years now so we're not into the whole tourist thing. Instead we read on the beach and walk down by the water and drink at the bar. It's much more relaxing having no worries and nothing to do than have a jam packed day full of attractions. I never have enough time to read so I'm definitely taking advantage of all of this free time. And there's tons of fun stuff to do in the area we stay. Karaoke night, casinos, rib night, bingo, salsa lessons. You name it. And the best part is that the same people come every year so it's nice to go to an island and see so many familiar places. People I've known since I was a baby. They're more like my Aruba family who I only see once a year. I love it here. Oh and I get to brush up on my spanish. Amazing what you can remember from freshman year of high school. I plan to take a ton of photos so I'll be posting those eventually. Hasta manana!

Myrtle Beach

I'm having the best time ever in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with my boyfriend. I feel like most people don't think of Myrtle Beach as an exciting place but we're really having so much fun. We've gone to the beach, hung out at the enormous pool, walked around Broadway at the Beach, ate out A LOT, and watched a million movies. I'm a little sad that we only have two days left but I'm already looking forward to the next vacation we take together. (Image via Tumblr.)

Wishful Wednesday

Wishing I was laying on a towel relaxing on a beautiful beach on a tropical island somewhere far away, maybe Tahiti or Fiji, instead of in New York on this ugly summer day.

Home Sweet Home

After a long day of delays and running through airports yesterday, I am finally home from vacation. I had a great time in panama city beach and got to see some of my family that I haven't seen in years. Now I'm back to school & rainy weather. Definitely not ideal but I'm happy to be home.
