The Perfect Denim Jacket

I haven't owned a denim jacket since I was about thirteen years old and in middle school. Over the past year I kept revisiting the idea of buying one but I kept talking myself out of it. I finally purchased this gem from Madewell a couple of weeks ago and I love it! I'm one of those people that has to wear something as soon as I buy it so of course I decided to stroll around town wearing it over my favorite plaid shirt in the freezing cold and snowy weather. It might have been a little too soon but I can't wait to pair it with more delicate pieces and flirty dresses when spring rolls around. It is the perfect denim jacket.

Breakfast Panini

My mother has always told me that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but I've never been a fan. I'm not big on cereal or pancakes or anything else that's labeled as a "breakfast food," but lately I've been trying to change my ways. I made this breakfast panini and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The herb butter was really what transformed this from a regular egg sandwich into something I would actually make again.

The Little Things

{Hanging out with Sydney on the front lawn.}
I spent the last week more stressed than usual. Apparently, even with my to-do lists, I'm not too great at time management. Having off Monday for President's Day was a welcome change but it completely threw me off. Having something to look forward to really makes weeks like this fly by though. Today Pat's flying in from Myrtle Beach to spend his birthday weekend in New York and I can't wait! We already have a ton of plans that I'm really looking forward to.

 If you hadn't noticed yet, I decided to rename my Friday Favorites "The Little Things." I think it captures what I'm showing you, the little things that make me happy every week, much better. Hope you have a great weekend!

Insta-Sam

This is my life through Instagram over the past month from my trip to warm and sunny Myrtle Beach and then back to cold and snowy NYC.

(Starting from top left...) A selfie of me in my new favorite lipstick Nars Heat Wave, Sydney lying on the snow covered deck, awesome nail stickers from Loreal on top of O.P.I.'s Cajun Shrimp, beautiful tulips from my wonderful boyfriend & a DIY kiss print I made and framed, chocolate & vanilla chocolate chip cookies, tickets to Taylor Swift's Red Tour in July, heart brownies, a head to toe Madewell outfit of the day, my favorite Myrtle Beach pooches Maggie & Zoe, the second book I read of the year Safe Haven (I'm on my fourth now!), an afternoon run around the neighborhood, and Pat :) .

Winter White

I went to the LF end of winter 60% off sale over the weekend. It was like I died and went to heaven. I got amazing pieces for great prices. If you've ever been to the store then you know that even on a regular day with no sales, you have to have a ton of patience in order to sort through the piles and piles of clothes. One of my favorite finds was this sweater. I absolutely love the pattern on it! To me it just screams winter. And I have to say it might be the softest, most comfortable sweater I own now.

Mac and Cheese Cups

Macaroni and cheese has always been one of those nostalgic foods for me. Growing up mac and cheese was always a staple at our family barbecues. A perfect side dish to hot dogs and hamburgers. In college, easy mac was my specialty. On the nights I was too lazy to venture to the student union, mac and cheese was my go-to dinner. After that year in the dorms I developed an intolerance to dairy and have rarely had mac and cheese since. But last week I had a major craving for it and found this recipe for Mac and Cheese Cups. It was a nice twist on your typical mac and cheese dish.

Happy Monday

Usually I cringe when people say "Happy Monday" but considering it's a holiday and I have off from work, it is indeed a happy Monday. I spent the holiday weekend in Southampton with the wonderful women of my family. We shopped and cooked and watched countless movies. It was a much needed break from my hectic and overwhelming schedule. I helped my mother open her new etsy shop, East End Saje, where she's now selling her beautiful pillow covers. Overall it was the perfect weekend. I can't wait until it's a little bit warmer out so we can enjoy walking around town and eating outdoors. Spring can't come soon enough.
