Fourth of July Treats

American Flag Cupcakes from Martha Stewart
I love all things festive for holidays, especially food. (I made Pumpkin and Ghost Sugar Cookies at Halloween, Santa Hat Brownies at Christmas, etc.) I'm one of those people that can't wait to get a little older and have a place of my own so I can entertain friends and host holiday parties at my house, and I'm always on the search for fun recipes for when that happens. So I was looking for Fourth of July dessert recipes for my family's barbecue and came across the most adorable and easy desserts that anyone can make. I am definitely making the American Flag Cupcakes this year. Here are a couple of other fun Fourth of July treats.

Getaway with Girlfriends

This past weekend I took a trip out to the Hamptons with my two girlfriends for a relaxing getaway. I have to say, I love girls weekends. We had the absolute best time. On Friday we spent the day in the exhaustingly hot weather at the Atlantis Marine World Aquarium in Riverhead, New York. (Checking this off my Summer Checklist!) Despite the heat, we had so much fun. We saw the sea lion show, watched the sharks, played with starfish and stingrays. I love going to the Aquarium. It's definitely one of my favorite pastimes. And after that we stopped in Ralphs for much needed water and creme ices to cool us off. For the rest of the weekend we lounged around by the pool for hours, reading magazines, swimming and listening to an awesome 90's playlist. We barbecued, baked, and indulged in way more delicious food than we probably should have. And at night we roasted smore's (I would check this off the Summer Checklist also except we did it over the stove, so I don't think this counts), watched movies and played games. It was a perfect mini vacation. I can't wait to do it again!

South Street Seaport

A while ago I told you about my friends and I going on weekly adventures during our breaks in between classes. Unfortunately the weather and then our actual school work prevented us from exploring as much as we would have liked. But this week we refused to let anything get in our way, especially with the beautiful weather and the city at our fingertips. So today we took the 3 downtown to the South Street Seaport, something I've been wanting to do for quite some time. (I've only been there once before.) Personally I think the Seaport is one of the most underrated places in the city. I absolutely love it there. Everything from the cobblestone streets to the waterfront view with the Brooklyn Bridge in the distance. It wasn't crowded or full of tourists. It was perfect. We had so much fun walking around, talking, shopping (I got an new pair of flats from J. Crew!), and basking in the sun. We even bought matching friendship bracelets. Super cute. We only got to stay for a little but I can't wait to go back there again.

FUN.

Currently have this song playing on repeat. Loves it!

Ay Caramba!

As you all know, Cinco de Mayo was last Thursday. Obviously this post is a little late but I just saw these photos on Planet Blue & I thought they were all sorts of great. So I'm posting them anyway. Maybe I can just have a Mexican themed party in the summer because this looks like so much fun. A donkey pinata, tortilla chips and salsa, and paper flowers in your hair. What more could you ask for?
