Room of the Week

It's rooms like this that I dream about having in my own home. Clean, crisp, open and airy. I die for this room! I love the white cabinetry in the kitchen balanced by the stainless steel appliances. I love how the kitchen ties in perfectly to the living room creating one large cohesive open floor plan. Taking the light blues from the ottoman and throw pillows tie into the stools at the breakfast bar in the kitchen. I love the colors in this space. The lights blues, greens and beige tones work so well together. The space is very natural and gives off a feeling of comfort. I just want to curl up on the couch with those cute dogs, relax and read a book. I would definitely put this room in my dream home.

Room of the Week

Adoring the kitchenette I chose for Room of the Week today. As soon as I see lucite anything I immediately fall in love, but this kitchenette has a ton of other elements that are equally amazing. I always picture my house having windows like those shown above. Currently, the windows in my house don't let a ton of light in. The amount of light pouring into the room just adds to the beauty of everything that's in it. I love the colors in this room, the yellow walls balanced by the large white moulding around the windows, and the bright citrus colored pillows that line the banquette. And of course the lucite chairs! I'm a major fan of lucite. I think its modern and fun, and because its clear gives the illusion of more space in a room.

Room of the Week

Kitchen envy! I was reading the latest issue of Rue Magazine online and came across an article about a French couple and their stunning Soho loft. They described their style a "cultural mix" with Japanese, Scandinavian and Parisian influences. Overall their style was modern and eclectic and I absolutely loved it. The kitchen was my favorite room in their house, maybe because it was the simplest. I love the exposed brick wall painted white, the open cabinets and the metal chairs they have lining the island. But I think what really makes this room are the small accents of their personal taste placed around the room, making it their own. I love the owl perched atop the counter and the two pictures next to each other on the wall showing different types of butterflies and birds. It's definitely hard to mix different kinds of styles but these two made it work and the results were amazing.

Room of the Week

I'm having kitchen envy! I typically don't gravitate towards modern elements in interior design. I find they can make a room feel a little cold sometimes, but not here. I love the lucite chairs with the bronze seat cushions. They're so awesome. At first I didn't even realize they had a back to them! I also really love those oversized drum lampshades. The pattern on them gives the kitchen such a cool vibe.

P.S. I swear I'm going to have fresh flowers and fresh fruit in my kitchen every single day if possible.

Room of the Week

How beautiful is this kitchen? It's so sleek and modern! I love the turquoise ceiling and the stainless steel backsplash. You would think the stainless steel backsplash on top of all the stainless steel appliances would be too overpowering but it's not at all. Such a great idea but can you imagine what a pain it would be to clean that all the time?

Monogrammed

I've always felt that monogramed household items are so cheesy. Why would anyone need a set of monochromatic towels with their initials on them, or bedsheets, or anything else of that sort. I still have the same opinions on them, however, I've fallen in love with these monogram mugs from Anthropologie. They're much more untraditional than the aforementioned towels and sheets. They're simple and fresh but playful and colorful. And they're only $8! I need to buy an "S" and "P" asap.

Ceramic Tiles

I saw this kitchen featured on the Style Files. It's from a home in the south of Portugal and was designed by Jacques Grange. I love how simple and clean the kitchen is but there's such beautiful details that make it unique. The blue and white ceramic tiles above the stove are by far my favorite part of the kitchen. And I love the pottery that sits on the shelf  high above the counter top. Gorgeous.
