South Street Seaport

A while ago I told you about my friends and I going on weekly adventures during our breaks in between classes. Unfortunately the weather and then our actual school work prevented us from exploring as much as we would have liked. But this week we refused to let anything get in our way, especially with the beautiful weather and the city at our fingertips. So today we took the 3 downtown to the South Street Seaport, something I've been wanting to do for quite some time. (I've only been there once before.) Personally I think the Seaport is one of the most underrated places in the city. I absolutely love it there. Everything from the cobblestone streets to the waterfront view with the Brooklyn Bridge in the distance. It wasn't crowded or full of tourists. It was perfect. We had so much fun walking around, talking, shopping (I got an new pair of flats from J. Crew!), and basking in the sun. We even bought matching friendship bracelets. Super cute. We only got to stay for a little but I can't wait to go back there again.

Let's Get Physical

For the most part I have zero motivation to work out. I would even go as far as to say that I might be  okay with never having to work out again for the rest of my life. Unfortunately that will never happen and when I'm at the gym I have to say I really do enjoy working out. It's the getting to the gym part that usually gets me. With summer approaching I renewed my gym membership and promised myself that I would get in shape. Having a goal definitely helps. My goal is to have a flat stomach by summer and also to be able to walk up the four to five flights of stairs to my classes at school without hyperventilating. Another thing that helps, for me, is having a gym partner. Some people prefer to work out alone but for me, having a friend to go with absolutely helps me to get motivated, especially when that partner has the same goals as I do (except she can probably already walk up the stairs without hyperventilating). Good music is also a plus. I have an eclectic taste in music and lately I've been blasting either Adele or Nicki Minaj while I'm on the elliptical. And last but not least, is having a gym that offers classes. If I'm not in the mood to run or make a decision on whether I want to work out upper body or lower body, I can just drop in on a yoga, pilates or kickboxing class.

10 Things You Should Know About Me

I woke up this morning more than disappointed in the weather. Didn't spring start yesterday? Anyways, for now I'll leave you with this: a list of 10 things I think you should know about me. Here goes...

1. I am a 21-year-old Advertising Design student at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.

2. I am a middle child.

3. I currently live at home with my mother, father, sister and chocolate Labrador, Sydney. (My younger brother lives in Boston where he attends college.)

4. I am an avid chick lit reader. There is nothing like a good book to make you cry.

5. I am an extremely picky eater but am trying to broaden my food horizons.

6. I enjoy cooking but baking is my passion. Cake batter is my guilty pleasure.

7. Photography, especially foodography, has always been a hobby of mine.

8. I am in love.

9. I have a fear of flying but I love to travel. My mother worked for Northwest Airlines when my siblings and I were young so I've been all over the United States including Florida, Arizona, Texas, California and Alaska. In the past few years I've traveled outside the U.S. to Ireland and Italy. (I happen to be half Irish and half Italian.)

10. I am an emotional shopper. Sad, happy, angry, bored, excited. Any mood, I shop.
