Stripes are a constant staple in my wardrobe. I spotted this sweater in Madewell right before Christmas when their pre-spring rollout came into stores and knew I had to have it. It sold out so quickly I didn't have a chance to pick it up, so I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my Christmas presents and the bf had gotten it for me. I love the electric yellow/gray combo. It adds some brightness to these chilly winter days and it's such a great transitional piece. Spring can't come soon enough. 
Ever since I started working at Madwell, I have a seriously unhealthy obsession with all things J Crew. Everything is just so timeless but still current and on trend. J Crew re-opened their Manhasset location today after moving to a larger, two-floor store so I had to stop in there and see it for myself. I have to say, I was impressed. It was beautiful and they had so much more inventory than the old one as well as the other locations I've been too. It was really lovely. Of course I ended up picking up a few things. In 2009 boyfriend jeans were all the rage. I bought a pair from Madewell that Spring and told the girl I thought they were too big on me (which they were). But she assured me that they weren't too big, that it was "just the look." Seriously I looked like a fool! Now I'm sure she just wanted the sale. It was good for her but for me it was $100 wasted on jeans that I wore maybe once for ten minutes. But lately I've been thinking about how cute boyfriend jeans were and how much I still really want a pair. Preferably ones like this chick is wearing above. A pair that's fitted but not painted on her leg. I think these are the perfect kind. Am I 3 years too late or can I still find boyfriend jeans somewhere? Help!
It goes without saying that I'm a lover of all things J.Crew, especially their sister store Madewell. A little over a year ago, Alexa Chung came out with her line for Madewell and it was to die for. She is a "cookie cutter hipster" as she calls herself. Her Fall 2011 campaign recently came out and every piece from her collection is awesome. I love the way she mixes prints and patterns that I would never put together and makes them look so effortlessly cool. These are a few photos from the lookbook.
